blog entry #3

While looking around where the best spots for tourist and the teams to stay at i came across a city (cape town)that had absolutely every thing . when i say everything i meant it because it is not that far from the beach its not that far from table mountain which is across from the bay. the best thing about it is that it is 20 minutes away from the stadium that is hosting a bunch of games for the world cup tournament. the people say that cape town is also close to there central business district. the best thing about Cape town is that it has 24 hour security and restaurant facilities, night activities and entertainment . then once you get done from hiking or your just tired from soccer all day you come back to the settlement and go to the bar where all the 2010 world cup games will be televised .

the things to do in this resort is outstanding it has so many things and day trips such as V&A Waterfront, Robben Island, Table Mountain and the Two Oceans Aquarium.Cape town has also beautiful scenic towns such as Chapman's peak and Cape Point which are very popular tourist attractions that the Cape has to offer.the best thing about cape town is there famous beach named Blaauwberg Beach, which is the world famous kite surfing beach, its just 5 minutes away, ideal for windsurfing, crayfish diving in season and a good selection of remarkable restaurants, night clubs, bars and shops to explore.
my team South Africa first game is in Johannesburg - JSC and we are playing Mexico .

Steven Pienaar , South Africa's unquestionable main man . Steven plays attacking midfielder , he's a hard runner , has limitless energy and indomitable spirit . He can do it all pass , dribble , whip a deadly cross or go in for a goal himself. Pienaar , commonly know as "The Mighty Peanut" , came throught the ranks of Ajax Cape Town. Our country percieves me and my group because we all know that South Africa is a poor country , and we know how important the sport is to them. The people living in South Africa look up to there countrys soccer team. Our expectations are to try our hardest and hopefully go all the way and win it , we have big expectations for South Africa . We are all excited to see how hard our team will go in and play. All the people will be very proud of there team for winning it for there country and i think it would be very exciting and emotional because everyone would love to see there countrys soccer team win the World Cup. They would probably love to brag that there country won it all , and it might make South Africa more famouse and it might raise some money for there country. If we loose then it might make people sad because they were really expecting a lot from there team, but everyone would atleast be proud that there team made it that far. For the people who live for soccer would probably be upset because they want there countrys team to good, but i dont think it would cause any harm to our country , people might just be mad or sad for a while because it is the world cup and it only comes around every 4 years, it would probably even make everyone more mad because the world cup is held in South Africa and thats our country.

Football in South Africa can be traced back to the late 19 th century and the first recognised club was formed as early as 1879, under the title of Pietermaritzburg County. The team initially played matches against military selections from the occupying British troops, and came solely from the European immigrant population. The Natal Football Association was formed in 1882 and with a league comprising four clubs - Pietermaritzburg County, Natal Wasps, Durban Alpha and Umgeni Stars. By the following year, the league had grown to the strength of ten clubs. In Johannesburg, the Transvaal FA had been formed in 1889 by the Dutch immigrants who settled in the area, and their main competition was the Transvaal Challenge Cup. The early winners were Wanderers Wasps in 1889, Rangers in 1890, 1892 to 1894 and 1896. The Rangers club existed for more than a hundred years, winning the First Division in 1986. The game spread next to the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, where a Scotsman by the surname of Dickson, his first name having faded from the annals of history, attempted to establish a league, but with little success. Two Englishman founded a club called Pioneers FC in Cape Town in 1890, and they immediately challenged the dominance of the British military teams for competition honours. This is South Africa's third appearance at the FIFA World Cup. Their first participation was at France 1998 and they also qualified for Korea/Japan 2002.South Africa hosted and won the CAF Africa Cup of Nations in 1996 at their first attempt, beating Tunisia 2-0 in Johannesburg's Soccer City. They went on to finish as runners-up at the following edition in 1998, losing to Egypt 2-0 in the final. Benni McCarthy scored the country's first goal at the FIFA World Cup in a 1-1 draw against Denmark on 18 June 1998.
